1 min read: Want to be the least productive you can be at work while still maintaining the look of being busy? Follow our easy guide:
Open e-mails first thing in the morning. This is a great way to get sucked into a black hole of less-than-urgent communication and requests and will easily waste an hour or so of your time before you’ve even gotten started.
Leave your email client open during the day, and make sure the notifications are on. This way you can regularly be interrupted and spend a few minutes replying to more less-than-urgent messages. Just think, just 10 good email replies can easily waste an hour of your day!
Make sure your calendar is full of meetings. Say yes to all of them, even if you’re obviously not contributing, and especially if the entire meeting could easily be an email.
Micromanage your subordinates. There’s nothing better for filling your time than being overly-involved in someone else’s job.
Focus on fire-fighting tasks. You’ll actually be a bit busy, and there’s the added bonus of never having time to be strategic. Strategy is paramount to productivity, so it’s best to steer clear.
